The last time the Hudson R-IX school’s tax levy was raised was in 1997, twenty-seven years ago!
The school has been able to operate on this levy without consistent deficits until the last few years when we began offering employee health insurance. This was necessary to have applicants for open positions and to keep staff at Hudson, especially since Hudson is in session 5 days a week rather than 4 days. The extra federal money we have received has kept us going, but our extra federal money has come to an end just in time for the State of Missouri to raise the mandatory minimum annual teacher’s salary from $25,000 to $40,000.
The current Hudson R-IX tax levy is $3.78.
Tax levies of some of the surrounding schools are: Adrian - $4.73; Appleton City - $4.28; Archie - $4.62; Ballard - $5.01; Butler - $4.75; Davis R-XII - $4.13; Miami R-I - $4.31; Montrose - $4.63; Rich Hill - $4.39 & Shawnee Mound - $4.01
Remember, even if Hudson R-IX is not here, you will still have to pay a school tax to someone and you will probably not have a say as to who that will be.
